How the estimate is formed
The calculator combines age, sex, height, weight and activity level. Changing activity level changes the TDEE estimate because it represents daily movement and exercise.
Activity level matters
Choose the activity level that best matches a typical week rather than a single unusually active or inactive day. Small changes in activity level can noticeably change the estimated daily energy need.
What the result means
BMR is an estimate of energy use at rest. TDEE adds an activity multiplier to estimate total daily energy expenditure. Both values are estimates, not measured calorie use.
