What the volume calculator shows
The volume calculator shows volume in cubic meters, liters, cubic decimeters, cubic centimeters and cubic millimeters. In conversion mode it converts an entered volume from one supported unit to the others.
How to use the calculator
Choose box, cube, cylinder or unit conversion. Enter the measurements and select the length unit. For cylinders, use either radius or diameter depending on the measurement you have.
Supported shapes and measurements
- Box: length, width and height.
- Cube: side length.
- Cylinder: radius or diameter and height.
- Conversion: a volume value in m³, l, dm³, cm³ or mm³.
Formulas
- Box volume = length × width × height.
- Cube volume = side³.
- Cylinder volume = π × radius² × height.
- 1 m³ = 1,000 liters = 1,000 dm³.
Examples
- Box: 2 m × 1.5 m × 0.5 m = 1.5 m³ = 1,500 l.
- Cube: side 2 m → 8 m³ = 8,000 l.
- Cylinder: radius 1 m and height 2 m → about 6.28 m³.
- Conversion: 0.75 m³ = 750 l = 750 dm³.
Units and conversions
Length measurements can be entered in meters, decimeters, centimeters or millimeters. A liter is the same as a cubic decimeter, so 1 l = 1 dm³.
Limitations
The calculator gives a geometric estimate for the selected shapes. It is not an industrial measurement, construction calculation, final material estimate or exact liquid measurement. Wall thickness, rounded corners, fill level, tilt and irregular shapes need separate judgment.
