Area calculator

Calculate area, square units and optional unit price for common shapes.

Calculate area or price per square meter

What the area calculator shows

The area calculator shows area in square meters, square centimeters and square millimeters. In unit price mode it divides a total price by area and shows the price per square meter.

How to use the calculator

Choose rectangle, triangle, circle or unit price. Enter the measurements and select the unit. For circles, use either radius or diameter depending on the measurement you have.

Supported shapes and measurements

  • Rectangle: length and width.
  • Triangle: base and height.
  • Circle: radius or diameter.
  • Unit price: total price and area in m².

Formulas

  • Rectangle area = length × width.
  • Triangle area = base × height / 2.
  • Circle area = π × radius².
  • Unit price = total price / area.

Examples

  • Rectangle: 4 m × 3 m = 12 m².
  • Triangle: base 5 m and height 2 m → 5 m².
  • Circle: radius 2 m → about 12.57 m².
  • Total price 200 and area 20 m² → 10 per m².

When unit price is useful

Unit price helps compare materials, surfaces or prices when the total area differs. The calculator divides the total price by area, but it does not add waste, delivery, installation or other extra costs.

Limitations

The calculator is a geometric helper for everyday area calculations. It is not a CAD tool, map measurement, official property measurement, building plan or final material estimate. Measurement errors, rounding, waste and irregular shapes need separate judgment.

FAQ

How do I calculate square meters?

When measurements are in meters, the area formula gives square meters directly.

Can I use centimeters or millimeters?

Yes. The calculator converts the result to m², cm² and mm².

Does the calculator handle irregular shapes?

No. It supports rectangles, triangles, circles and unit price per square meter.
