Percentage increase calculator
Calculate how much a value increases and what the new value is after a percentage increase.
Calculate a percentage increase
What percentage increase means
A percentage increase raises an original value by a percentage of that same value. The calculator shows the increase amount and the new value after the increase.
Formula
- Increase amount = original value x percentage / 100.
- New value = original value + increase amount.
How to use it
Enter the starting value and the increase percentage. The calculator separates the increase amount from the final value so you can see both parts of the calculation.
Percentage points are different
A percentage increase changes a value relative to its starting point. Percentage points describe the absolute difference between two percentage rates, such as moving from 4% to 6%.
Example
If the original value is 100 and the increase is 20%, the increase amount is 20 and the new value is 120. Percentage increase is different from percentage points, which compare two percentage values.
