Percentages and basic math

Discount calculator

Enter the original price and discount percentage to see the amount saved and the sale price.

Calculate the sale price

What a discount percentage means

A discount percentage tells how much is subtracted from the original price. The calculator shows both the discount amount and the final sale price.

Formulas

  • Discount amount = original price x discount percentage / 100.
  • Sale price = original price - discount amount.

The calculation is currency-neutral. You can use the same formula for any currency because only the numbers are used.

How to use it

Enter the price before the discount and the discount percentage. The calculator returns the amount saved and the price after one discount has been applied.

What is not included

The result does not include shipping, payment fees, taxes added later or campaign conditions such as member pricing. Check those separately when they affect the final price.

Examples and limits

With an original price of 100 and a 20% discount, the discount amount is 20 and the sale price is 80. A 0% discount leaves the price unchanged, while a 100% discount makes the sale price zero.

The calculator handles one discount at a time. It does not add shipping, taxes, loyalty rules or several consecutive campaign discounts.
