What the date calculator shows

The date calculator counts the difference between two calendar dates. It shows days, hours, minutes, seconds, weeks and approximate months and years. It also shows the start and end weekdays, weekdays Monday to Friday, weekdays Monday to Saturday, and Saturdays and Sundays.

How to use the calculator

Choose a start date and an end date. You can turn on time of day if the exact hour and minute matter. If the final day should be part of the range, select the option to include the end date.

How the date difference is calculated

The calculator creates a start moment and an end moment from the dates and optional times you enter. By default it counts up to the end date without including the end date itself.

If the end moment is before the start moment, the calculator shows the interval length as a positive value and indicates that the order is reversed.

Example calculations

1 January to 31 January 2026 without the end date = 30 days.
The same range with the end date included = 31 days.
1 January 2026 08:00 to 2 January 2026 10:00 = 26 hours, or 1 day and 2 hours.

Calendar days and date ranges

Days, hours, minutes and seconds are based on the actual difference between the entered moments. Weeks are days divided by seven. Months and years are approximate because calendar months and years do not all have the same length.

Limitations

The calculator separates weekdays and weekends from the calendar, but it does not account for public holidays, bank holidays, vacation days, legal deadlines, time zones or special daylight saving rules. Use the result as a practical calendar calculation, not as an official deadline interpretation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the end date included?

Not by default. If you choose to include the end date, the calculator adds one calendar day to the result.

Can I use time of day?

Yes. When time of day is enabled, the calculator uses date and time together and shows the difference in hours, minutes and seconds as well.

Are leap years included?

Yes in the date difference itself. Months and years are still shown as approximate values.

Does this calculate official business days or legal deadlines?

No. The weekday counts are based on weekdays only, not public holidays, official calendars or legal rules.
