Dates and time

Business days calculator

Count Monday through Friday between two dates, or add and subtract business days from a selected date.

Calculate business days

By default, the calculation includes both the start date and the end date if they fall Monday through Friday. You can change this with the options.

What the business days calculator shows

The business days calculator shows how many Monday-through-Friday days are included in a date range. You can also use it to move a date forward or backward by a chosen number of business days.

How to use the calculator

Choose the calculation type first. For a date range, enter the start date and end date. To add or subtract business days, enter the start date, the number of business days and whether the days should be added or subtracted.

What counts as a business day?

In this calculator, business days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday are skipped. The English version is intentionally country-neutral and does not exclude public holidays, bank holidays, local holidays or company-specific days off.

Business days inside a date range

When you count business days between two dates, both the start date and the end date are included by default if they fall Monday through Friday. You can exclude either endpoint separately. The result shows business days, calendar days in the calculation and weekend days.

Adding and subtracting business days

When you add or subtract business days, the start date itself is not counted as the first business day. The calculator moves one calendar day at a time and counts only Monday through Friday.

Examples

  • If a range starts on Monday and ends on Friday, the result is 5 business days.
  • If a range starts on Friday and ends on the following Monday, the result is 2 business days.
  • If that Friday-to-Monday range excludes the start date but includes the end date, the result is 1 business day.
  • January 5-7, 2026 gives 3 business days because all three dates are Monday through Wednesday.
  • If you add one business day to a Friday, the result date is the following Monday.

Limitations

This is a general Monday-through-Friday calculator. It does not exclude public holidays, bank holidays, local holidays, company-specific days off, legal deadlines or special banking and government rules. It is not a legal, banking or deadline calculator. Check important dates against the source that applies to your situation.
