Savings calculator
Estimate how an initial amount and monthly savings may grow over time based on an assumed annual return or interest rate.
Calculate savings growth
What does the savings calculator calculate?
The savings calculator estimates the final value of your savings based on the initial amount, monthly savings, estimated annual return and saving period. The results show the estimated final amount, total contributions and estimated return or interest.
Initial amount, monthly savings, time and return
The initial amount is the sum already available when you start saving. Monthly savings are the amount added regularly. The saving period is the number of years included in the estimate. The estimated annual return or interest rate is the percentage used by the calculator to estimate growth.
Compound interest calculation
The calculator includes compound interest as a mathematical estimate. Growth on the initial amount is calculated using annual compounding. Monthly savings are estimated using a monthly return period so that regular contributions can be included.
If the annual return is 0%, the calculator shows the total without return: the initial amount plus the monthly savings.
What the calculator does not include
Actual savings or investment outcomes may depend on realised returns, fees, taxes, inflation, the regularity of contributions and market risk when investments are involved.
The calculator does not model these factors separately. It provides only a mathematical estimate based on the values entered.
Example calculations
- Initial amount €1,000, monthly savings €100, annual return 4% and a saving period of 5 years → estimated final amount approximately €7,846.55.
- In the same example, total contributions are €7,000.00 and the estimated return is approximately €846.55.
- Initial amount €0, monthly savings €150, annual return 0% and a saving period of 3 years → final amount €5,400.00.
